Add min and max to product categories This post is outdated

Hi,

I have customized products in my shop and I want the customers to pay only once for the customization, so if he wants to products the second one is a lot cheaper.

I have two categories now: Main and Second products. The products are identical but the "Second products" have no customization in it and are cheaper.

My question is: How can I tell Shopify that it requires EXACTLY one product of "Main products" to proceed with the order? So users won't be able to buy "Second products" cheaper without customization or buy two "Main products" for mistake and pay too much.

My approach was to work with the weight. "Main products" have a weight of 1 pound and "Second products" 0 and to make an order you need to have exactly 1 pound. Is there are a better way to solve this problem?

Thanks in advance.

Hey Vincent,

I'm Ann, from the team here at Shopify :)

From the sounds of things, the best way to do that would be through an app! Apps are like extra features you can add to your store. In this case, there's an app that lets you set specific rules for orders, like to make sure an order can only have one specific product in it, or making sure you have to have a product in the cart before your order goes through. Take a look at Order Limits, and use their free trial time to see if that'll work for you!

Additionally, it's good to note that this is a third party app, meaning that it wasn't made by Shopify, however, you can reach out to their support team using the contact information on the app page.

I hope this helps! If you have any more questions or concerns feel free to reach out to us on this thread :)

Have a great one,
Ann

Strange I didn't find the App in the App Store but it solved my problem!
