The summary of the clients information is a legal requirement on the European market.

According to European law the information the customer has entered have to be presented to them again before they approve the purchase.

This means the information entered (name, address, phone number, email address) needs to be repeated before they press the Accept-button and enter their = credit card information. This can be done by having a new page after the customer has entered his information, but before the purchase is approved and paid, where the customer's name, address, e-mail and phone are presented to the = customer. Or it can be on the same page, but where the entered information is automatically repeated on the same page, and therefore presented again Alternatively, you can insert a box where the customer actively have to cross that their information entered is correct. It is important that they can go no further, if the box is not checked.

We (The Europeans) need to make this happen!

Hi Mike,

First i will point you to the Danish law of ecommerce from 2002. This law is build upon the European Parlament directive 2000/31/EF from 8. june 2000.

This is my translation from danish to english:
Danish law of ecommerce § 11, . 1  Before an order is placed, a service provider shall make appropriate, effective and accessible technical means available to the recipient, thus enabling him to identify and correct input errors.

This is the english text from Directive 2000/31/EC - EUR-Lex:
Member States shall ensure that, except when otherwise agreed by parties who are not consumers, the service provider makes available to the recipient of the service appropriate, effective and accessible technical means allowing him to identify and correct input errors, prior to the placing of the order.

There have been cases where the goverment forced ecommerce business to implement this.

This is the law not a request.

We could be forced to close the store if they start an investigation.

I believe for Shopify to address these requirements, the shipping address and billing address need to be listed again on the Credit card page (step 2) and a back button added to allow customer to go back to step 1 to correct their information.

Even without the regulation requirement, it is a good idea to give customers a final chance to verify their billing and shipping address before placing a charge.
