Receiving USD with a Canadian Bank via ShopifyPayments

My online store sells in USD.  I have a USD account with a Canadian Bank.  Shopify doesn't seem capable of dealing with this.   Whenever I enter 'USD' as the Currency and Canada as the bank location I get an error.  Has anyone else successfully navigated this?

Hi Luke,

It is possible to set a Shopify Payments account as USD while using a Canadian bank if you have a USD account with them! To ensure this works correctly you would need to ensure that your store address is in Canada and then it should work fine! Step 3 and 4 in this doc show this as well- https://docs.shopify.com/manual/more/shopify-payments/setting-up-shopify-payments

If you are finding that this isn't the case, our Shopify Payments team will be able to help! Please reach out to support@shopify.com when you have some time and we'll be happy to get this to the right team for you asap.

Thanks Luke!

Hey Luke, can I ask which Canadian bank you're using? I also want to use a USD account (and USD credit card) at a Canadian bank but they all seem to have their downsides. Last one I was looking at was BMO's small business current account (USD), but it looks like there's a transaction for of $1.25 USD for every deposit!!

Would really appreciate the help, thanks.

Hi, I'm at TD opening a USD bank account. But they are telling me there's a 17.50 fee per wire transfer.

does shopify direct deposit or wire transfer to the bank account?

Open a borderless US checking account with TD. It's $4.95/month for unlimited transactions :)

Has to be a checking account because shopify doesn't accept US savings accounts anymore.
