Payment Protection This post is outdated

I just received my first order and the payment was through Shopify payment. Is there protection for the seller like there is with paypal? It is a faily large order and I would like to know before shipping.

Hi there,

Luke here from Shopify support.

Shopify offers our Risk analysis on any order that comes through your admin to alert you of any suspicious orders to so that you can investigate further. I would recommend taking a look at our Fraud Prevention doc for specific steps to take depending on what Risk level and factors the order displays. If you do receive a chargeback, we will submit a chargeback response on your behalf to the card company with revelant information of the order - and you also have the opportunity to add any additional information you may deem relevant before it is submitted.

It might also be a good idea to install a fraud-related app for more risk mitigation functionality. If you are finding you are receiving a lot of High risk orders I would recommend looking into the app Signifyd as this can help protect you against chargebacks. When a customer places an order with your Shopify store, Signifyd automatically reviews the order and tells you whether to ship it or not - that way you can focus on growing your business and not worry about the possibility of chargebacks. You can check out the Signifyd app here.

I hope this helps give you an idea of what protection we offer and what other options you have for further protection. If you have any further questions, you can always reach out to us at from our support page.

Kind regards,
