Looking for conversion experts

bangcube.com

Just started our streetwear store that is focused primarily on korea fashion. We are a multi label store and we curate our clothing from designers that has their own shows during fashion week.

We did a prelaunch and has been fairly successful with 15k emails over 2weeks.

Now that we launched, conversion has not been ideal. We have spent quite an amount on fb ads, influencer marketing and i should believe that we have a fairly interesting and active social media channels. We also send out good promotional emails.

Please take a look at my site intently and see what are my conversion killers, looking for conversion experts, willing to work together to solve my conversions issue.

Cornelius,

Just checked your website, very impressive website with clean graphics, but still lots of room for improvement.

Here's what I suggest you do, implementing each will increase your conversion rate by a bit, combined they'll have a large impact = $$$

- Redirect to cart after item is added to cart

- Remove company field from checkout

- Make phone number optional during checkout

- Give a clue of shipping costs in your shipping & returns page, don't surprise them during checkout
It can be a table with shipping rates and estimated delivery times for different parts of the world

- Shipping to Singapore is free, but why don't you tell it on website?

- Offer free international shipping over a threshold. Hint: figure out your Average order vale and set something a bit more than that,
i.e. $125 if your AOV is about 90-100 and be sure to commnicaate it on website
If you say upfront that shipping is $20 and then say it'd be free over say $125, then people are encouraged to spend more.

- Accept Paypal, some people prefer that and belive it's safer = some extra sales = a bit higher conversions rate

- Set that currency selector up to show some more currencies other than just USD, or remove it altogether. What's the point of it being there where only one currency can be selected?
Are the prices the same in Sigapore Dollars and Australian Dollars and Us Dollars? Definitely not, so cater to their needs = less confused customers = some more sales = a bit higher conversion rates

- OH, just saw your "FREE shipping over $150" message in small text on cart page. Remember, people aren't sent to cart automatically, when they add something to cart they are presented with an AJAX cart popup which has a CHECKOUT button and brings them directly to checkout. The minimum number of people possible will see that message on cart page. Add it to every product page.

- Write description for some new products that doen't have any description:
This: https://www.bangcube.com/products/amss17an001bk costs $170, but there's only ONE picture of the front of it, no close up, no more pics, and NO description. I won't buy it even if I like it!
What is it made of? Who makes it? Inspired by what? Give me more info and I might buy it = some more sales!

Many products can be improved this way.

- Change those https://www.bangcube.com/products/amss17an001bk URLs to something meaningful like
https://www.bangcube.com/products/3-pocket-long-anorak. It helps people find it organically via search engines, page URLs are important. After all it's free traffic = more sales

- Make "Add to Cart" button a bit bigger, and A/B test changing its colour to make it pop, so it'll become the center of focus on product page. An increase in the number of add to carts = an increase in sales

- Add rating and reviews to your site. The more they trust your brand, the less friction is there for them to buy when they like something.

- Add a physical address on your contact us page if you can. No one's going to show up, but it adds trust = more conversions

- Like above, add a telephone number if you can. helps build trust

- Add two menus: MEN / WOMEN. it makes it easy to filter out products for customers. Now every collection is mixed. A girl looking to buy something for herself wants to see women clothes. They are only a few minutes on your site, check your Google Analytics and you'll see. So in that little time you have, show them what matters to them.

- Add Alt tags to all your images, now it's either "Image" or "Click to view large", also, consider renaming images to a meaningful name even as easy as <product name>-<brand name>-by-<bangclub>.jpg
it will help with SEO and will result in free additional traffic to your site

- Setup Abandoned Cart Recovery emails if you still haven't (using Shopify's own as a starting point) this should help convert about 5% of abandoned checkouts.

After you've done these, then get a proper conversion rate expert to help you bring it to the next level.

Hope this helps,

Cheers,

Sia

Cornelius,

Glad you find my suggestion of value.

Regarding AdWords, I'd suggest you seek professional help. Like what Rodrigo's team has to offer.

My general advice about doing paid ads for you is to stay away from text based format and invest more in the visual forms, like Facebook, Instagram, Google AdWords Display ads and also Pinterest. Fashion is a visual vertical and the unique style of the products you offer can't be communicated through words only. that's why I'd expect better ROI from visual format.

At this point, I'd prioritise fixing conversion issues on website over ad spend (while both are definitley worthwihle), as there's less point in paying to drive traffic to a page/website that does a mediocre job in converting traffic into cash. But if you're already spending on paid ads to drive frist time visitors, then here's what I suggest:

- Definitely get professional help to optimise your campaigns, reduce costs and maximise ROAS.

- Try retargeting ads to reinforce your brand and to bring back the traffic that hasn't yet converted to sales. I recommend Shoelace app for a simple, hassel free Facebook/Instagram retargeting campaign (we had great results with them) and also AdRoll for retargeting users across the rest of the web.

Cheers,

Sia

Cornelius, you HAVE to do some SEO work on your site - and not just onsite SEO, you need a link building strategy. ALL of your backlinks except one are nofollow, which means Google doesn't consider it when determining your rank. The 2nd thing is you just dropped 376 backlinks from http://fishmeatdie.blogspot.com/2011/08/20110625-mtv-video-music-aid-japan-2011.html

With that big of a hit, that's definitely hurting your organic traffic. You need more visitors to your store, period. This means you need to start building backlinks and then you can focus your attention on things like conversion rate. I say this because if you're wasting money on marketing but not getting any new visitors other than who's on your email list, then boom -- that's your conversion killer. The people on your list don't want your products. It's nothing personal. You must acquire new customers!

Make great quality backlinks should be your number 1 project.

Great pointers Michael. How would you suggest that one goes about building quality backlinks?

Hi Dee, there are tons of great articles on how to build good quality backlinks. There are several strategies I like to use; here's a short list (by no means is this ALL backlinking strategies!).

  1. Broken Link Campaign. Find relevant blogsites and check for broken links - ask them to put a link to you there instead. Most of the time, the site owner will be thankful you brought it to their attention.
  2. Reach out to Bloggers. Find bloggers or authors who write about your niche, and reach out to them. Ask them to review your site or products in exchange for product or even some cash.
  3. Place backlinks in valuable directories. 95% of web directories and social bookmarking services are absolute crap and should be avoided at all costs! There are some exceptions such as DMOZ which is ran by a group of volunteers. In short, the easier it is for you to place a link, the less valuable it is.
  4. Produce Excellent Content - If you want others to link to you, you'll need to produce original, captivating content. This is the most natural, the best, and the most time consuming way to build backlinks, but well worth it!
  5. Stay Active in the Community - This means you'll need to make some posts in places like forums. MOST of the time, forums enforce what's called a "nofollow" backlink. This means Google doesn't take it into consideration when determining your rank. However, it's very important in SEO because you'll need a mix of both "dofolow" and "nofollow" links. If all your links are nofollow, Google will think you're doing something shady, because it's not natural. In general, you should have about 10% of your links as nofollow.

I am subscribed to several powerful SEO tools that I use for million dollar companies. Together they cost nearly $500/month. I do have Shopify SEO services which gives you access to the data for as low as $15/month. You can find more info about that here!

hello everyone,

i have did the neccessary changes. Can you give a 2nd round of critique.

Well done, it's much better now. Specially the extra photos on product pages and the new URL for products. You should see an uplift in conversion rate and some organic traffic soon.

I still suggest adding meaningful Alt tags and adding a Men/Women menu.

Do you have Google Anlaytics setup? If not, then do it ASAP and do it correctly. I suggest either getting an expert to do it for you or do it yourself by following steps in this article:

https://www.digitaldarts.com.au/google-analytics-and-shopify-for-splendid-data

If you already have analytics setup, then head over to eCommerce tab after a few weeks and see if conversion rate has been increased and by how much.

Now you've almost covered all the bases and best practices for an eCommerce shop to a nice degree from usability/conversion point of view. To enhance it even more, you need help from an expert that can researh your customers and dig into your analytics to find issues and comes up with some hypothesis about how to fix them which can then be verified through A/B testing.

Hope this helps,

Cheers,

Sia

Cornelius,

Love your site! Have you posted on r/malefashionadvice? I could see that thread buzzing about Bang Cube.

Also, have you considered professionally-managed Facebook ads? My team at AdSpect manages and optimizes ad campaigns for other streetwear stores who we've helped tremendously!

Give us a look! We also have a two-week free-trial promotion going on - www.adspect.io

Email & Facebook/Ad marketing can be tricky if you don't niche down your customer segments. You can easily burn your pockets if the ads are not targeting your customer audience. If you already have customer emails (or) leads i would suggest to try out this app(there's a free credit on it) to get your customer interests just by knowing your customer email - https://apps.shopify.com/customer-insights. Once you know your customer interests then you can segment them appropriately on Email & Ad campaigns. This can help you to target similar audience.
