Hi guys

My name is Sidney Chamano and I'm from South Africa. I dropped out of varsity in my second year because of financial reasons and i wish to get back next year. since then I launched an online store and its been 4 months and no sales yet. I have 500+ visitors, 4 reached checkout but no conversion.I need someone to help mentor me in marketing and help increase traffic to my store. I'm willing to compensate you once I start making a sustainable profit. My store is www.vintageculture94.com

Thanks in advance

Hi, Chamano!

My name is Jade, I am with the Social Care Team at Shopify.

I moved your post from 'Manufacturing and Crowdfunding' to 'E-commerce Marketing'. This way more people that are interested in this topic will see your post.

I also took a look at your website and have some quick feedback to help point you in the right direction.

1) So that your customers can search your store based on product, you may want to create a drop-down menu under the word Catalog in your store. We have a help document with a video about how make a drop-down.

2) On your footer, a small tweak that will make your website more professional is to capitalize the first letter of each title (see image below).

3) On some of your products such as the Classical Nylon Strap Quartz, the colour variants are numbered. This is most likely from your dropshipper. To make each option more pleasing to your customers, I recommend thinking of names for each one. Since there are so many different colour combinations, a good method that I have seen other businesses do is to make each variant a persons name.

For example, colour 01 could be called 'Devin', 06 could be Melissa, 09 Jacob, and so on - making sure to select mens names for the mens watches and womens names for the womens watches.

4) The product descriptions that you currently have are an instant sign that you are dropshipping your products. This will take a bit of time, but I highly recommend writing your own unique product descriptions for your products instead of using the ones provided by your dropshipper. We have an article called 9 Simple Ways to Write Product Descriptions that Sell that has great information to help you get started.

I hope this information helps! Best wishes with your store!

Hi Sidney,

In my experience, a decent amount of traffic without the reflective sales often has to do with targeting issues. It could be that your ads are simply not reaching the correct audience. You have a very specific demographic - how are you targeting them? Are you doing so manually or through Lookalike audiences? If you are doing so manually, this could be a major reason your ads are not being seen by the correct people.

Here are some tips to help you out:

Figure out your target demographic

One of the most important aspects of advertising is knowing exactly who it is you are trying to sell to. It can be a huge waste of time and money if your ads are being seen by the wrong people. Nailing down your target market is the first step in effective marketing. If the wrong audience is viewing your ads, it is highly unlikely you will make successful conversions.

Leverage your social media

I noticed you have no links to any social media on your website. Using social media to your advantage is an absolute no-brainer. Don’t miss out on the ability to make sales by ignoring social media. Make sure you are active on sites like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter and prominently display these links at the top of your landing page. Advertising on these platforms will be your biggest asset, if you go about it correctly.

Get some marketing help

Figuring out the perfect marketing formula is often easier said than done. I’d like to recommend one of Shopify’s awesome machine learning apps called Pollen (https://apps.shopify.com/poln) to help you market effectively. This app enables you to acquire customers on Facebook and across the web simply and cost effectively. Through powerful automation, Pollen offers an easy-to-use marketing platform that’s sole expertise is in driving sales. It takes as little as 2 minutes to set up a campaign. Pollen takes care of the rest. It’s as simple as that! Time is money, so start your free 7 day trial today!

Hopefully this guides you in the right direction! Good luck and Happy Marketing!
