After six months only three sales. Help!

Hi, I opened my shopify store six months ago. I have added more products, more pictures, I post regularly in the blog, I use Instagram and Twitter... But the fact is that I have only done three sales from friends. I have not much traffic to my store, don't know why. And when I google my keywords, I am not visible.

I am descouraged and thinking of close the shop.

Any advice to survive?

Thanks,

Marina

  1. You need a domain name
  2. You need a favicon
  3. You need a logo
  4. Sliders need to be the same height.
  5. Sliders need call to actions.
  6. Your products are on menu item 4. Change that to the 2nd menu item.
  7. Merge your, "ideas" into the blog and rename the blog into ideas.

I hope that helps.

Thanks for the tips.

I already have a domain name. It is redirected to my shopify shop. What else do you mean I have to do?

You shouldn't redirect the domain to your myshopify site. Instead you should set, via Shopify admin, the domain to be the primary and thereby redirect the myshopify site to it.

I would create a facebook page as well. In my experience facebook is far better for selling than twitter.

My Primary domain is succulentsathome.myshopify.com. And I have activated Redirect all traffic to this domain.

Then in Manage domains I have succulentsathome.com and succulentsathome.es

So, you mean I have to delete succulentsathome.myshopify.com and write succulentsathome.com in Primary domain?

Thanks for your help

Hey Marina!

I certainly agree with everything Matt posted - you'll want to make sure you have your site in tip top shape before trying to drive traffic to it. Once you have the site fully set up, everything will really come down to your marketing. Unless you have an extensive social media following, you will most likely need to pay for Google/Facebook Ads to get your brand out there.

Additionally, I would highly recommend reading through this guide as it outlines 50 different ways to start making sales. I've probably read this a dozen times and each time I pick up something new - it's by far the best resource for coming up with marketing ideas.

You can also reach out to a Shopify Marketing Expert if you're keen on hiring someone to help with strategy, conversions, and advertising.

Best of luck with your store! :)

Thanks Stephen, I will read the guide. But I am still worried about my invisibility in Google. I must be doing something wrong

Marina, I think you need your primary domain to be succulentsathome.com

If you've set it up right, under the "manage domain page," that  domain should be listed, and you choose it to be the primary.

You might want to contact Shopify and have them walk you through this, to be sure everything is set up right at the place you purchased your domain name.

If succulentsathome.com isn't listed on the "Domains" page, you'll definitely have to change the set up at Go Daddy or wherever you got your name. I'm absolutely a non-expert at this, so can only point you in what I think is the right direction.

Hey Marina,

If you haven't already, you'll want to make sure you submit your sitemap to Google's webmaster tools so that Google knows your site exists, and will begin to index it.

You'll want to follow Sharon's advice first and make sure your domain is setup up correctly before submitting your sitemap.

Once that's done, check out this post for some basic and easy tips on how to increase your SEO ranking.

Hope this helps,
