Help, how do I find the right supplier in China? This post is outdated

Hi

It seems that setting up your online store is the easy part. It's finding the right supplier that makes it difficult for me. Everyone says find your product, make sure your product is right, but what if your product is right but you struggle to find a supplier?

I wonder if anyone else had this issue? I'm looking for a specific product and I found it all over Alibaba and Aliexpress and even Global sources, however the prices I'm getting quoted for wholesale makes it impossible to sell on ebay. It seems that the vendors from these sites also selling on ebay? If my landing fee works out to $436 after shipping, how can they sell it on ebay for 399 including shipping? After fees, I'll be paying in! Other people that I talked to asked me why would they buy from your online store if they can get it cheaper at another online store like ebay?

Also, there were "manufacturers" that gave me way better prices however when I started digging a bit deeper, like looking for the website outside of alibaba and phoning them, one company told me that they don't even produce those items and that they've been fighting with Alibaba because other people are trading under their banner as 7 year gold partner with verified onsite checks. The fake guy is listed as the supplier contact! So that basically takes away any creditability for the checks that alibaba does. The other vendor claimed to have offices all around the world, even in Australia. When I asked to see the product in Australia they said that the products aren't there, just the head office but would not give me the address anyway. The bank account for the Western Union transfer was in some unknown place and the story was that the head office was suddenly there and not in Australia anymore. Also a lot of the "vendors" have websites but according to Scam advisor the website might be offline, only running for 4 days etc.

I guess the question is, how do I know who a real manufacturer is? I've gone through more than 50 but not one has given me prices that can compete with the guys on ebay and the ones that could, turned out to be frauds...

I did join Salehoo but there's only one supplier for my product there and he's not returning my mails...

If anyone can give advise, it will truly be appreciated

Belinda

What I do when I verify the identity  of the manufacturer and distributor.

1 I call them and Skype with them.

2 I ask a lot of questions such as there address and for USA  distributors there fein #

3 I google there  physical location  and  reverse look up there phone numbers.

4 I set up a meeting to talk in person at there location and check out their facility.

5 I do a small test order.

6 After I verify there information and the quality of there products frist hand then I buy it

after all of that we would start the  process of licensing their products to prevent any problems
