Customer Tag Driven Shipping Rate Visibility This post is outdated

I sell products to two customer groups:  1) Commercial and 2) Consumers...  I have segmented my products into two categories/collections; all my commercial customers are tagged and grouped; I have limited access to the commercial products set pages by using the Lockdown App.

My question is how to setup shipping rates in a similar fashion... (I am not using the real-time shipping calculator feature).  I have two sets of UPS rates, one only eligible for commercial addresses and another set for residences.

For example:  If I create two shipping rules for a 10lb product with the two different rates, how do IONLY show the commercial rate to customers I have tagged as "commercial" and ONLY the consumer rate to all others in the checkout process?  Right now it will show both options for the customer to choose from in the checkout process.

Any help is MUCH appreciated!

Hey Page!

At the moment, we don't have a way to tell the system which shipping rates should be shown for which customers. There's an existing feature request for this type of functionality though, so it's definitely on our radar.

In the meantime, the best way to set this up is by using the Better Shipping app - apps.shopify.com/better-shipping. While it doesn't let you set customer-specific rates, it does let you set per-product shipping rates. With the app installed, you can set up shipping rates that will only be applied to your wholesale products, and not to your regular customers.

I hope this helps out, but if you have any further questions you can reply to this thread or shoot me an email at justin.reist@shopify.com!
