New link list in Vision This post is outdated

So, I created a new link list on my site. I downloaded the theme so I could play around with Vision... However since that link list isn't in the Vision Database of items, my page doesn't match.. How do I get such items into the Vision database so I can match the development to the live site??

Not sure what you’re asking but if you are asking how to get your “user created link list” to shop up on your site, you’ve got to change the template page (theme.liquid).

For example, I created a new link list added the following code just below the standard navigation:

In this example “Ayala Bar” was the link list name. Notice the dash between Ayala and Bar in the linklist function.

<h3>Ayala Bar</h3>
<ul id="side-links" class="vlink-list">
       {% for link in linklists.ayala-bar.links %}
          <li>{{ link.title | link_to: link.url }}</li>
       {% endfor %}
</ul>

weezer, Yes, I understand how to add new link lists.. Have them on my shop. However when taking my shops theme down into Vision, that section of the display is blank, because that link list name does NOT exist in the Vision DB…. Hence the problem when developing with Vision… I have instead built a test shop and use it for all my development now, because Vision is just too limiting..

/vision/server/db/database.yml

link_lists: – &link-list-1 id: 1 title: ‘Main Menu’ handle: ‘main-menu’ links: – link-1 – link-10 – link-2 – link-9 – link-3 – link-4 – &link-list-2 id: 1 title: ‘Footer Menu’ handle: ‘footer’ links: – link-5 – link-6 – &link-list-3 id: 1 title: ‘ayala bar’ handle: ayala-bar’ links: – link-1 – link-2 – *link-3

Add however many you need. You won’t be able to make the links actually go to the pages you want, unless you modify the database more, but it should fill links into the link list for you to design your store.

the code isn’t coming out right. Here is pic.

Follow the first two link lists as an example and add yours using the same syntax. Add as many links as you need.

I think there needs to be functionality built in to allow a user to download the database.yml from the live cart and then place into the vision server structure. I agree that it is just too much of a pain to manually edit one’s DB all the time. I like to work off exactly what I have on the live site.

Please add this functionality it would save me alot of troubles.
