Cart Attributes or Custom Field only visible on admin side - Order Details page

Hi,

I have created a cart attribute that I would like to appear ONLY in the admin side - Order Details page.
So that my staff can use that field. Basically I need a custom field that is easily accessible.

With Cart Attribute, an easily accessible field appears in the Order Details page where I want it but ONLY if data is entered into the field from the Cart.

The Custom Fields App is pretty clunky and does not offer an easily accessible field.

Any thoughts on this would be greatly apprecited.

David

Hey David,

I just released a chrome browser extension that I think could help you. It makes it super easy to add cart attributes - and once you add the attribute your staff can see them without loading any additonal plugins. Check it out: https://aloagency.com/blog/shopify-cart-attributes

Let me know if this helps!

@Austin Hutchison

This is working great for me. I have another question about your Chrome browser extension.

I'd like to add the data from this attribute field into an Order Printer template. Are you able to provide me with what the code snippet will look like to accomplish this please?

Thanks in advance,

David Strutt

Hey David - the blog post has a few notes on this - but this snippet should get you what you need:

{{ attributes.gift-note }}

Would you mind reaching out over email or my expert profile so I can get more detailed feedback?

Cheers

Hi Austin,

Your chrome extension is useful to add/edit one cart attribute quickly.

The drawback is it can only hanle one cart attributes only and it will remove any previously saved cart attributes.

Hope it can be improved.

Thanks.

Hey Tom

You're right - Shopify made some big changes to the admin interface after I released my plugin - which caused it to stop working appropriately. I hope I have the time to update it soon
