New `prerequisite_customer_ids` property in the Price Rule API This post is outdated

Hi All,

The Price Rule API has added a new property prerequisite_customer_ids that can be used to create discounts for specific customers.  See the Price Rules API reference documentation for more details on how to use it.  We look forward to seeing what you do with it!

Awesome. Thanks for the heads-up, Ryan! We love the advancements the Discounts team is delivering.

We just launched support for this in our Bulk Discount Generator app. I'm sure some people may want to create a bunch of codes that only work for one or more persons under a single price rule, but we're evaluating other approaches to take advantage of this enhancement that flip it on its head a bit.

While we're thinking over here, we'd love to hear ideas from the community. What use cases would you like to accomplish with this new customer prerequisite?

Thanks!

I'm using the shopify python api and cannot add prerequisite_customer_ids array to a price rule.

1. I can add a pricerule, just fine.

2. I can add prerequisite_saved_search_ids, just fine.

Is there no support for prerequisite_customer_ids yet in the python API?

The python API won't always include the brand new features.  Opening an issue on the github repo, like I saw you have already, is the best way to keep track of these.

As a workaround you could always manually send an HTTP request with the parameter.

Cheers,
