eBay inventory integration? This post is outdated

Just wondering if there are any plans to offer a "one-click" eBay inventory synchronization tool. Hope I'm being clear (short on sleep), but the idea is for the Shopify store owner to be able to mirror inventory in eBay (MarketWorks, Amazon, Yahoo Stores, etc) with a speialized tool that ties into the appropriate API.

Ebay would be on our case if we would offer this as first party tool but this will definitely be encuraged possible once Shopify gets its API

That kind of synchronization would be great. However, eBay by itself doesn’t offer inventory without Selling Manager Pro and there is no way to access the Selling Manager Pro data through the eBay API.

Also, Yahoo doesn’t have an API for sellers on Yahoo Stores yet. However, what might be possible in the future is to use Shopify as the main storage of inventory information and then list items from Shopify to eBay or Yahoo or wherever.

The other thing that might be possible once Shopify’s API is up and running is the creation of 3rd party tools that take a CSV file of a product database exported from eBay or other sites and then synchronize the data into Shopify.

I am not familiar enough with MarketWorks or Amazon to comment on those services.

A way to transfer inventory over to Froogle would be nice, but I dont know if that’s possible…

I could have sworn Bidville (somebody else?) had somethnig a few years ago. I thought it was a robot that made little, if any, use of the eBay API.

Guess I didn’t consider the inefficiency to be eBay deliberately protecting their turf, but it makes sense.

Wouldn’t it work the other way around, wouldn’t you want to publish your product catalog from shopify to your ebay account.

Integrate to the “Stores” module with Ebay’s API so that you could “one click – (or so)” ALSO sell your items on ebay.

A scheduler might be an upgrade option, but as a marketing vehicle Ebay is obviously a major traffic driver so making it easy for store owners to publish / sell their inventory on ebay would be a strong selling feature.

Shopify could also tie it into the affiliate program that ebay has (through CJ.com) so effectively everyone listing from their free stores – jaded pixel would be getting a commission on the listing and final sale fees … (that should motivate you guys to implement it :)

Any word or progress on this front? I mean, it's not the end of the world to flip things back and forth in spreadsheets between the two, but a "translator/updater" would be nice.

I posted about this in the "Ideas" thread too. For me - it's taking Shopify inventory as the master, and posting what's there to eBay automatically every week. Simple settings only.

Integration with eBay should be straight-forward if it's just on items and completed auctions / sales.

In fact, now that our inventory solution is up on the marketplace, we're looking at adding eBay support to the things we sync with Shopify (inventory quantities and items). We're looking for folks interested in trialing this with us (free of course). If you're interested, drop me a line through our contact form.
